The Institute for Shared Understanding is the data controller for personal information collected through Clarify. This notice explains what we collect and why.

What we collect and why

  • Account details (email, login credentials) — to create and run your account. Basis: contract.
  • Messages you submit and your assessments — to produce assessments and keep your history. Basis: contract.
  • Plan and usage information — to apply your plan limits. Basis: contract.
  • Technical data (IP address, device and browser information, logs) — for security, fraud prevention, and improving the service. Basis: legitimate interests.
  • Support messages — to answer your questions. Basis: legitimate interests.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers that host and run Clarify, including the AI processing used to produce assessments.
  • Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for selling the product, managing subscriptions, payments, tax, and invoicing.
  • Professional advisers such as legal and accounting firms.
  • Authorities where required by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active and as needed for legal and accounting purposes, then delete or anonymise it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us at richard@clariomethod.com; we respond within one month.

Security and transfers

We use appropriate safeguards such as encryption and access controls. Your data may be processed in other countries; where required, we rely on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Cookies

We use only essential browser storage needed to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies.
